Boost customer experience with Big Data and DevOps in Telco industry



KDM FORCE has been selected to take part of a digital transformation programme of one of Europe's top 3 Telco operators.

The Client, a major Telco Operator with customers in four of the five Continents, has designed and is now implementing a strategy that will result in strong changes in the way its services are provided to the customer base. Such strategy is deployed to pursue four different objectives. First, the improvement of Customer Experience (using digital channels like Web Apps and Mobile Apps). Then, the acceleration of time to market of new marketing propositions and campaigns. Third, the company’s ability to adopt new business models, like reinventing itself into a Full Digital Provider (MVNO) and, finally, the overall IT simplification that allows the integration with third party digital services to enhance Data Monetization.

In order to achieve all of the intents of its strategy the Client relied on a new IT architecture based on Dell EMC technologies combined with an open source Big Data and Cloud based technologies stack (Spark, Hadoop, MongoDB, Pivotal, Spring, RabbitMQ, etc.). At the start of the project, very few companies had the competence to carry out a project based on such IT architecture. Fewer had the skills necessary to allow a seamless integration of all customer data stored and managed in several legacy BSS (Business Support System) in order to allow to manage such data from web Apps, Mobile Apps and API gateways, especially when such new architecture had to be scalable, fast and resilient.


KDM FORCE, was awarded an important role on the project and will leverage on its Big Data practice and DevOps-orientated IT operations experience.

Our software architects will be challenged to develop an heterogeneous IT stack based on a new data layer that addresses zero latency (or hot data), supported by "inMemory SQL database" and near-zero latency (or warm data), supported by "NO-SQL database", this one capable to handle Big Data. Such data layer will be retrieving data from the legacy BSS, located at the bottom of this new IT architecture, in order to make them available, north-bound, to Web Apps and Mobile Apps.

Our software engineers will then develop a layer of Microservice, written in Java, leverage on the speed of RabbitMQ message brokering.
